Why are you passionate about Business Management?
Being in a band you wear a lot of hats (just like any small business). Some members sling merch, some take on the long haul driving, but I was always the “lucky one” who was responsible for managing my band’s money. Through the years as our band grew beyond just needing someone to collect a few hundred dollars from a pimple face promoter and our needs as . This meant making sure we got paid after a gig, that all funds left over hit the bank account, that anyone that needed to be paid got paid and making sure the guarantee was enough to go around so we could make it to the next city on a tour. Eventually I became the point person to my band’s business manager when we could afford the luxury. I have aways been curious about how money flows in and out of a business and found that it wasn’t always clear where money was being earned and how money was being spent. I wanted to make an effort to make financial information clear to those who are in the position of being a musician and a small business owner so they could understand their business and make decisions based on this information.
Quote I live by: “Anyone remember when we used to believe that music was a sacred place and not some fucking bank machine? Not something you just bought and sold? How could we have been so naïve?”

Why are you passionate about Business Management?
Growing up in Peru, both my parents were entrepreneurs who created a business out of nothing. In that way, I have always been fascinated by the power and potential impact of one good idea.
As an artist myself, I have understood that I am a business, and I seek to empower other artists by providing them with the necessary tools to make informed decisions with their business. In the old days, the artist's personal manager was the one making many decisions that directly affected the artist's career. Nowadays, that's changing, and I'm a firm believer that no matter how big or small the team is, the artist should understand how the music business works and be in charge of the wheel.
Being a business manager allows me to discover new talent and share valuable tools of how the money is being used to empower artists to make strategic and effective decisions.

Why are you passionate about Business Management?
Growing up in the 90’s on a steady diet of HipHop and Hardcore ignited two great passions in my life; music and social justice. I love the power music has as both a tool to educate and unite people around a common cause. A successful music business, just like social change, requires a lot of dreaming and a lot of organization. As a Business Manager, I get the opportunity to bring my creative business intelligence and operational experience to the table with each of our clients and provide them with the infrastructure, guidance and belief to chase those dreams.
